Workshop 8 - 2.30pm
Steeking Knitting
Tutor: Marna Gilligan

Are you scared to snip your knitting?  Don't be!  It's much easier than it seems.  In this workshop you'll learn how to prepare and reinforce a steek, snip it, and pick up stitches along it for a button band or other edging.  We'll also explore the best (and worst) yarn choices for steeking and how to check the steekability of a yarn.  You'll finish the workshop brimming with steeking confidence and ready to take the scissors to everything you have ever knit.

HOMEWORK!
Please bring along a couple of stocking stitch swatches knit in a 4ply/DK/Aran weight yarn (20st x 20 rows is ideal), a crochet hook 2 sizes smaller than the needles you knit the swatch on, and small pair of sharp scissors.  If you have any patterns - or Work in Progress (WIP's) - that need a steek please bring those along as well, and we can discuss the best way to approach the steek.

Level: Intermediate
